Thomas brings an abundance of experience—32 years—to his role as an SBA and USDA Development Officer at Cogent. He specializes in offering government-guaranteed lending solutions to small business customers through three different lending arrangements: SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and USDA Business & Industry Loans through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. With a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University Michael J. Coles College of Business and a degree in Advanced Banking Studies from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, Thomas’s expertise extends beyond his decades of practical experience.
For Thomas, he finds working with clients and prospective clients to be the most satisfying aspect of his job. He strives to first learn about their business goals and aspirations, and then uses that knowledge to work through solutions that will help them achieve success. He takes it as a great compliment when clients see him as a trusted financial advisor, referring other small businesses to him or returning to him when seeking additional funding. He has this useful advice for his new customers:

Thomas lives in Lafayette, Georgia with his wife of nearly 35 years, Cheri. Their daughter, Catie—who has brought them tremendous joy and pride—is a graduate of the University of Georgia in 2016 (Go Dawgs!). He and his daughter are shareholders of the 13X World Champion, NFL Green Bay Packers.
Cheri and Thomas are active in Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Georgia. They also enjoy working together on their 48-acre farm—a mostly wooded oasis with a pond and lots of wildlife—and boating on the many local lakes. In his free time, Thomas enjoys riding his Harley Davidson Road Glide Special and playing golf with his two best friends.
