Cogent Bank Continues its Growth Strategy by Adding Private Wealth Group

ORLANDO, April 20, 2021 Cogent Bank announced today that it has formed a new Private Wealth Group to be led by veteran banker John Clark.

Cogent Bank is expanding its already robust lending, depository, and treasury management products and services offerings with the addition of a Private Wealth Group. Lee Hanna, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Office of Cogent Bank said, “there is no doubt that Florida is a key market for Private Wealth business. We’ve been waiting to expand into this line of business until we found the right leader

– and we’ve found that in John Clark. His extensive experience in building, developing, and leading successful Wealth Management divisions, coupled with his business acumen and values, make him a perfect fit for Cogent Bank.”

The expansion into Private Wealth is another step in Cogent’s strategic plan to become a top-performing diversified and comprehensive financial provider in terms of growth, profit, risk management, and value. Besides the traditional personal and business lending and depository services, Cogent Bank also offers its clients a full suite of Treasury Management products and SBA, USDA, Asset-Based, Recurring Revenue, Purchase Order, and Business Insurance lending. In addition, Cogent operates Cogent Capital Advisors, an investment banking division. Clark will be based in Naples and oversee the division, which will serve clients statewide. He will report to Chirag Bhavsar, President of Cogent Bank. Clark and Bhavsar hope to start opening accounts for Cogent Private Wealth clients by the end of the summer.

Clark has more than 30 years of banking experience, most recently as President of the Private Wealth Group of CIT (formerly Mutual of Omaha Bank). Prior to CIT, John held senior roles in private wealth and commercial banking with several large national and regional financial institutions. John holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Missouri and is a graduate of the University of Virginia Graduate School of Banking,

“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work with such esteemed colleagues and long-time friends at Cogent. This is a tremendous professional honor, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Clark.
