Karim Arja

SVP, Commercial Relationship Manager

With 20 years of experience as a lender, Karim can help your company with a wide variety of commercial lending needs including commercial real estate, working capital lines of credit, asset-based lending, mergers & acquisition, bridge financing, and private equity lending. A Winter Park resident for over ten years, Karim is firmly rooted in the Central Florida world of commerce. A member of the Downtown Orlando Partnership and Orlando Tech Council, you can find Karim at our Orlando Banking Center.

Karim’s expertise as a commercial lender extends beyond his decades of experiences—his credentials are just as noteworthy. He holds both an MBA and Bachelors of Science in Finance and Economics from the University of South Florida, as well as a Masters of Accounting. He’s a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), and is Life & Variable Annuity Insurance Licensed.

For Karim, being a lender most often means being a facilitator—whether it’s facilitating a dream to own a home, buy an investment property, fund a business opportunity, or simply help an individual or business through a difficult time. While debt is often seen as a negative, Karim believes that, when used correctly, financing can be a bridge to opportunity and to overcoming challenges. Karim explains his philosophy in serving his clients: “I always try to act as if it is my money in the deal and I have a seat at the table when working with lending clients, and in the long run that serves us both well.”

If you’re looking to apply for a commercial loan, Karim has the following advice:

“We rely on information to make our decisions, so, in almost every case, more is better: information about the borrower, their industry, their experiences, and their plans, as well as relevant data about what the money will be used for, how it will be repaid, and what loan terms the borrower is considering. The quicker and more complete the information provided, the faster we can provide answers and potential solutions. Seeing us as a true partner means providing transparency so we can be a trusted advisor, bringing informed ideas to the table to help achieve whatever goal you may have in seeking financing.”

Karim lives in Winter Park with his wife, two children, and their dog. Karim is a huge college and professional football fan, and loves traveling the world, fishing, golfing, and cooking in his free time—and investing, too. When not working, Karim also spends his time volunteering for Victory Cup Initiative and Winter Park High School Athletics.
