Foreign Exchange Sales Officer

Job Summary

Cogent Bank is a full-service commercial bank that offers a broad range of lending, depository, mobile banking, and treasury management services, including international payment solutions, designed to meet the complex and diverse needs of our clients.  As part of our growth strategy, Cogent Bank is looking to hire an experienced foreign exchange sales officer whose key responsibilities are to grow this line of business, drive foreign exchange sales revenue, and manage business development activities in the foreign exchange and international payment space for Cogent Bank. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Business Development:  grow new client relationships and expand existing relationships by identifying and selling foreign exchange and international payment solutions while building a strong sales pipeline.
  • Manage and grow fee income and depository relationships by delivering foreign exchange solutions.
  • Accountable for responsible revenue growth, optimizing relationship profitability, client planning, client calling, portfolio development, and the development and delivery of presentations and proposals.
  • Contribute to the formation and execution of a comprehensive sales plan.
  • Sustain a strong client focus and treasury industry expertise and develop client subsector expertise. Drive regular consultative client interactions with on-site and virtual meetings, industry conferences, roundtables and client events. Manage and lead strategic dialogues around key client centric issues, leveraging best practices, peer benchmarking, industry data analytics, and solutioning positioning.
  • Partner with and build strong partnership with Relationship Managers in order to facilitate sales and depository relationships
  • Educate and train Relationship Managers and banking center associates on International Payments / Foreign Exchange product offerings
  • Understand and adhere to Cogent Bank’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with Cogent Bank’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Exhibit professional behavior, promote positive working relationships, and drive your personal and professional development.  Conduct all work activities ethically.
  • Pursue learning opportunities to enhance industry knowledge.
  • All other tasks, responsibilities, or duties, as directed by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or related field
  • Industry certification preferred (CTP, CFA or related)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ financial products sales experience, with experience in international payments and foreign exchange
  • Exceptional client facing skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent sales, presentation and relationship management skills
  • Motivated to maintain a consistent level of goal achievement and be willing to challenge themselves with performance metrics.
  • Outstanding communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Innovative thinking and strong problem-solving skills, coupled with attention to detailed execution
  • Ability to work independently; highly motivated and self-driven
  • Thrive in fast-paced and changing environment, with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel skills
